February 1st is National Energy Assistance Day!
The East Tennessee Human Resource Agency helps families across six counties with their household energy bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) which is funded through the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA).
Today, we serve clients in counties including Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Scott, Morgan, and Union. In 2022, the LIHEAP program served 4994 households, including 13,465 individuals in these homes. Households who receive assistance often include disabled individuals, elderly family members, families with small children, and those who recently lost their jobs or faced other qualified circumstances. Benefit amounts range between $300-$1,000 one-time per year.
